Game Information

Take to the streets and fight your way through waves of dangerous gang members in Double Dragon, one of the most iconic beat ’em up games ever made. Play as martial artist Billy Lee, or team up with a friend as Jimmy Lee, and battle across city streets, factories, forests, and enemy hideouts to rescue Marian from the ruthless Black Warriors gang.

Originally released in arcades in 1987 by Technōs Japan, Double Dragon revolutionized the beat ’em up genre with its side-scrolling action, cooperative gameplay, and deep combat mechanics. Players can throw punches, kicks, elbows, and flying attacks while picking up weapons dropped by enemies, including baseball bats, whips, knives, and explosive barrels. Every stage introduces tougher opponents and unique bosses, encouraging players to master timing, positioning, and teamwork.

The game’s two-player co-op mode became one of its defining features, making it a favorite in arcades around the world. Its huge success led to numerous home console ports for the NES, Sega Master System, Atari, and many other platforms, as well as several sequels that expanded the series. Decades after its release, Double Dragon remains a timeless arcade classic and one of the most influential action games of all time.
