Super Mario Ultimate

Super Mario Ultimate is a fan-made ROM hack of Super Mario Bros. 3 by Silas, featuring 90 custom levels built from scratch with new obstacle layouts, modified physics, and hidden secrets beyond the original game. The windmill friction mechanic gives push platforms a 25% movement increase when contacted from the side, changing the timing of several platforming sequences that would otherwise feel sluggish at standard speed.

The push-block system uses an 8-pixel grid — lining up within 8 pixels of a block before pushing grants a 2-tile bonus on exit height, which is required to reach some of the better-hidden secrets. Holding a reserve item before difficult sections provides a safety buffer that becomes essential in the hack’s harder late-game stages where enemy density and platform precision both spike simultaneously.
